My name is Cisco (AKA Ciscogiii or Francisco Jose Grajales III) and I am a Doctoral Fellow in Health Care, Technology and Place at the University of Toronto‘s Department of Health Policy Management and Evaluation; as well as a Graduate Student Researcher in the eHealth Strategy Office, Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia.
At present, my current graduate work evaluates the use of Social Media in medicine between and across healthcare actors and institutions. By trade, I am a Board Certified Exercise Physiologist and a Canadian Army Medic.
My mission is to become a clinician scientist (MD, PhD) and specialize in the strategic deployment of information and communication technologies (ICT) to improve glocal health. I love difficult problems without clear solutions where the ripple effect of a single word, action or decision can positively impact millions of lives despite politics, corruption, and competing interests amongst actors.
This bilingual blog will be primarily published in English (you may request the translation of any article to Spanish) and will concentrate on:
1) Innovation in Medicine;
2) Lessons learned in my journey from allied health care professional to primary care provider; and
3) Exercise Physiology 2.0
I will do periodic series based on my career and coursework including Randomized Controlled Trials and mHealth applications for development.
Special notice: All information or postings regarding military training and operations will be ignored as per the Canadian Department of National Defense CANFORGEN statute. Also, expect periodic black out periods due to military operational requirements or professional needs.
My professional profile can be found on LinkedIn.
Feel free to contact me with questions or special requests.
I look forward to hearing from you!
